It's all about balance!
There is a lot of truth to the ancient saying that, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” Whether you have read many motivational articles, or this is your first, there is a reason that you crossed my path at this point in your life journey. You are ready!
My name is Dr. Terry Kibiloski, author of the Get The MOST From Yourself series of articles, audio tapes, CDs, seminars, and workshops. If you read technology publications, you may remember this motivational article series from Computer Times, which is still available on the Internet at http://computertimes.com/getthemost.htm.
Over the next few months, this article series will become a roadmap for you to follow to improve your life, extend your life, and find new life in every moment of every day. In short, you will learn how to get the MOST from yourself in everything you do, physically, mentally, and spiritually, all based on the key principle that we are spirits having a human experience. If you have the desire to learn and, most importantly, a sincere desire to change, you can turn your life into a magnificent adventure, filled with experiences you never dreamed possible. Using the principles presented in this series, years ago I changed my own life from one of stress and striving, into one filled with a peace and happiness I never dreamed possible. I learned how to overcome anger, anxiety, and frustration and enjoy a very healthy life filled with lots of energy and total fulfillment. If this is something you would like to create in your own life, then sit back, relax, and let your journey begin.
It is important to understand that to get the MOST from yourself you must have balance between your body, mind, and spirit. This applies to physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. If you are having trouble meditating, it may be due to your diet. If you are overweight, it may be due to your self-esteem, or to your internal programming about food. Everything in our human system is connected and must be in balance to reach our highest potential.
Imagine that your human form is a car you drive wherever you choose. Like a car, it requires daily care to function properly. Your visible form is like the outside of the car. Your nervous system is like the electrical system of your car. Your mind is like the computers in your car that control everything from the fuel mixture to safe braking. Your spirit is like the operator of the car, sitting in the driver’s seat, directing activities at will, getting as much performance out of the car as desired, as long as the car is capable and well-maintained.
While most of us would never abuse our car, and are fairly dedicated to putting in the best fuel, getting proper maintenance, and keeping our car in great running order, we tend not to carry this common sense approach over to our human system. Instead, we drive our human system until it breaks and then seek out an expert to repair our damaged body, or our mental/spiritual disorder. Is it any wonder that our health care system is overburdened?
I suggest that you begin treating your own human system as you would a $1,000,000 fine sports car, giving it what it needs for peak performance on a daily basis. Surely, your human system is worth that. While most people would agree, few people seem to know what it takes to have a healthy human system.
Staying healthy physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually begins with providing your body with five essential elements on a daily basis: fresh air, pure water, healthy food, adequate exercise and healing rest. This will keep your body, and the physical components of your mind, functioning at optimum performance. It is really that simple. Unlike the body and mind, the spirit does not need air, water, and food, because it is not mortal, but it does need the equivalent of exercise and rest: prayer and mediation. Prayer is talking to whomever or whatever you believe to be a higher power, while meditation is simply shutting up and listen.
Answer the following questions honestly for yourself. Is your body in optimum shape, or could you benefit from a better diet and exercise program? Is your mind free of negative programming, or do you have a few areas that could use some reprogramming to help you react positively in all situations? Is your spirit filled with forgiveness and unconditional love, or do you need to learn how to stay in a state of peace and harmony, which is essential to fully realize every real success in life?
Beginning next month, we will give you detailed instructions on how to maintain a healthy balance between your body, mind, and spirit, and how to improve, extend, and bring new joy to your life. It all begins with your homework for this month: smile as much as possible at everyone you meet. Smiles produce endorphins in your body, and will bring you positive energy, which is crucial to giving you what you need to get the MOST from yourself.
